Steal My Body Skincare Routine

The summer skin ritual that’s making me excited to put on those short shorts

I started doing this body care routine to smell hella good.

but I keep doing it because it makes me feel like someone who has their shit together—even if I’m literally not wearing pants

Okay, so I’m not saying this routine has completely changed my life or anything
but I’m actually kinda excited to get into my Hot Girl Summer feels.

so take that as you will

I’ve been in my body care era lately.
not to be “bikini body ready”
just because it makes me feel like that girl

Trust me, It’s worth it.
like, I’m glowy, smooth, and i smell like a goddamn cupcake.

This is my current full body summer skincare routine

For the version of me who feels disconnected from my body and overwhelmed with how to feel better again.

and if you’ve been living in baggy clothes or avoiding mirrors lately, this one’s for you too. ♡

step 1: dry brushing + lymph love

aka how to feel less puffy, more human

I light a beeswax candle. Grab a monster energy drink in one hand and a salty-sweet snack in the other. I turn on RuPauls Drag Race. It’s a girly day!

(side note: have you seen the episode of Drag Brunch Saved My Life at Cosmo’s Diner in Thorold?!)

Now that you’re comfy, start with light pulses on the body’s lymph drainage points. 10-30x at each point—ankles, behind knees, groin, hips, armpits, collarbone, jaw, ears.

then i dry brush everything upward in long slow strokes toward my heart.

why? your lymph doesn’t move on its own. no heart pump. no engine. it literally just sits there—until *you* get things flowing.

think of it like unclogging a sink. everything works better once you get things moving.

dry brushing also flakes off dead skin before you even shower, so all of your body products can do a way better job.

you’ll feel lighter, smoother. less ‘everything is sticking to me’ and more ‘okay wait ♡ i love this’

impact level: high – low effort, big results.

step 2: double cleanse in the shower

this is where the body glow starts

first cleanse: Oil-based body wash

It melts off sunscreen, sweat, deodorant layers, and whatever mystery junk lives in the Niagara air.

second cleanse: antibacterial cleanse

I use my glycolic acid facial cleanser as my body wash. yes, on my whole body (minus internal areas, obviously)

We love a multi-purpose queen

why it works:

glycolic acid dissolves the ‘glue’ that holds dead skin on

antibacterial = bye bye body acne

it brightens up the dark patches that make you avoid wearing tank tops

impact level: very high – this one changes the game.

step 3: (optional) golden glow

Before i get out of the shower, i pat in Jergens Natural Glow Wet Skin Moisturizer.

this is a gradual tanner—not a full-on fake bake. just a believable warm-up for my ghosty legs that haven’t seen the sun in 6 months

*Important*: give it at least one full hour before layering anything else on top if you’re doing this step.

why? because DHA (the stuff that tans you) needs oxygen to activate.

exactly like when you leave apple slices out too long and they start to turn brown.

if you seal it in too fast with creams or oils, the colour won’t show up.

impact level: medium – not required, but the “did you go to Nickel Beach without me?!” glow is very real

already overwhelmed? you don’t have to do it all.  if you only pick one or two steps, start here:

- glycolic cleanser

- one moisturizer you actually love

if you want me to walk you through it in real life, book a custom facial and put “summer body skin” on your build a facial form. I’ll handle the rest.

hydrating body skincare welland

step 4: hydration stack

aka the layering method that stays & makes me smell expensive

water is great. drink it.  obviously.

but if drinking water alone made skin glow, i wouldn't see so many high-water-intake clients with dry, flaky skin.

so let’s help our skin out, shall we?

“I put that sh*t on everything”

after my self-tanner sets, i layer on:

1. a thick body cream – massaged in

2. apricot oil  – massaged in

3. spray light perfume or essential oil in as normal. My fave scents are warm, soft, and yummy

4. petroleum jellypatted on to seal it all in

*pro tip* use products all within the same scent family and you’ll smell like magic for days, without being overpowering.

impact level: high – “omg, you smell so good!! ♡” when you walk into work

what this summer body routine actually does

It reminds me I don’t need a new body to have a hot girl summer or be bikini body ready

i do this routine to feel like a glazed doughnut in the best way.

and sometimes? i do it just because it makes me feel like myself again.

focus on the things that help you feel amazing in your own skin now
what part of your body do you forget to care for until it starts screaming at you?

Want your face to fit the vibe?

book a custom Signature Facial at New Moon Aesthetics.

Add “Summer Puffiness” on your Build-A-Facial form. we’ll focus on puffiness, pigment, and glow.

I’ll pull out the cold globes, the chilled jade mask, and we’ll even do some facial lymphatic drainage. just tell me!

curious about the glycolic cleanser I use? i’ve got you.

I use the Glymed+ Glycolic Facial Cleanser for both my face and body.

Still wondering?

  • LOL no, god no.

1-2x a week is more than plenty.

but even if it’s less often than that, it will still be the best thing ever when you do it

  • choose 1 or 2 steps. whatever feels good to you. this isn’t all or nothing body care routine

  • YES! it helps with dark patches, texture and sweat bumps. not to mention antibacterial to stay fresh without deodorant.

just don’t use on broken skin or immediately after shaving

  • So far, it has for me. Obviously it wont ‘fix’ anything overnight. but it makes me feel more in my body and loving it, instead of hiding from it.

    and that’s where confidence starts
